Pickling Asian Pear

Ingredients:

1 mason 16oz jar

Asian pear diced into medium sized cubes

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar

1/2 cup of sugar

A teaspoon of salt

1 Lemon

1 stick of cinnamon

2 Star anise


Directions:

  1. Zest the lemon to get 2 teaspoons of lemon zest

  2. Squeeze out a tablespoon of lemon juice and put it to the side

  3. Medium dice an asian pear

  4. Add the pear, lemon juice, lemon zest, a stick of cinnamon and the star anise to the mason jar

  5. Into a pot, add the water, white vinegar, sugar, and salt

  6. Put the pot on the stove

  7. Heat and stir until all the sugar is dissolved

  8. Once the liquid is boiling and add a cover to the pot for a few minutes

  9. Turn turn off the heat and uncover the pot

  10. Let the liquid cool for a few minutes and pour into the mason jar and close

  11. Refrigerate and try after a few days!


Review:

These pickles tasted delicious. They reminded me of eating a pie. I think this would taste very good with cakes and ice cream.

I left the pickles in the refrigerator for 5 days before eating them and they still maintained a very nice crunch. I would 10/10 make these again.
