Pickling Green Beans

Ingredients:

1 mason 16oz jar

Green Beans

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar

1/2 tablespoon of salt

1/2 tablespoon of sugar

1.5 teaspoons of red pepper flakes

2 cloves of garlic

Thyme

Rosemary

2 teaspoons of black pepper corn


Directions:

  1. Cut the ends off of the green beans

  2. Slice the garlic

  3. Chop some rosemary

  4. Add the green beans, red pepper flakes, garlic, a few sprigs of thyme, rosemary to a jar, and a pinch of salt

  5. Into a pot, add the water, white vinegar, sugar, black peppercorn and salt

  6. Put the pot on the stove

  7. Heat and stir until the sugar and salt dissolved

  8. Heat until boiling for a couple minutes

  9. Turn turn off the heat

  10. Let the liquid cool for a few minutes and pour into the mason jar and close

  11. Refrigerate and try after a few days or weeks!


Review: These pickles were tasty and crunchy. I sliced them up and put them in a salad and they added a nice crunch to my salad. I used the brine as a dressing for my salad and also added some olive oil.
